Hay fever comes upon many from Spring right through to September. Hay fever is your body’s reaction to pollen when your immune system reacts negatively. Research by Allergy UK tells us 49% of the population suffers from hay fever, with 37% having developed symptoms for the first time in the last five years.
There are many signs and symptoms of hay fever from the common cold (sneezing, coughing, runny nose, blocked nose). You may also get headaches, earaches, itchy throat, ears, and eyes. You may increase your risk of developing hay fever if you have atopic conditions (asthma , eczema), genetic, and an environment that exposes you to allergens.
So, the pollen which is found in grass, trees, and woods get into your system through your mouth, nose, or eyes may cause this reaction.
With pollen, minimising your exposure is key. Ensuring you are in good health will help. Increase your intake of antioxidants foods such as citrus fruits. Strengthen your immune system with zinc foods found in nuts and seeds. Daily tasks such as closing windows in your home and car. Keep outdoor pets from bringing in pollen indoors. Use aircon. Washing clothes, use a dryer, or dry them indoors. Check if you have any food intolerances and remove them. Use a natural antihistamine.
